 Here
is a K series Engine block. This one is a 1.6L from the
picture you can see the 4 damp liners, coolant jackets, oil
channels and 2 engine dowels
  
  Here
you can see the intake manifold and the gasket. The gasket
is a thin rubber bead that sits in a channel.
   You
can see from the picture that the surface has been cleaned
and prepped to a high standard
  Here
is an engine block with the head gasket sitting on top. This
head gasket isn't a MLS gasket. you can see the fire rings
and sealing beads.
  In
this picture you can see that the cold sludge gets all
through the exhaust ports and into the exhausts system. it
is this that ruins your O2 sensor and catalytic converter
